12 Reasons Kurt Angle Was Brock Lesnar's Best WWE Feud

10. The Perfect Royal Rumble To WrestleMania Narrative

Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle's feud was the classic Royal Rumble to WrestleMania narrative. You had the young challenger who was having to overcome numerous obstacles to defeat the villain and get the treasure of the WWE Title. It all started with Paul Heyman turning on his client Lesnar at Survivor Series 2002. That resulted in Lesnar losing his WWE Title to Big Show, who then lost the belt a month later to Kurt Angle. In his quest to get his belt back, Lesnar had to enter and win the 2003 Royal Rumble. But he could only do that if he won a qualifying match with Big Show on the undercard. Lesnar won that qualifier and then won the Rumble from the number 29 position, lastly eliminating The Undertaker. That's how you put someone over in a Rumble match! It formally put him and Kurt Angle at odds with each other, which resulted in numerous intense and entertaining Smackdown segments. To add drama, Paul Heyman even became Angle's manager, so there was also added incentive for Brock to get revenge. It was exactly what a Rumble to WrestleMania season should be, a classic babyface overcoming numerous odds in chasing down the heel champion. By the time of WrestleMania 19, it was easily the most anticipated match of the night - on a card that also included The Rock vs Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Hulk Hogan vs Mr McMahon.
