If you ask the average wrestling fan what their favourite match of the year is, there's a solid chance the majority of them would point to the annual over-the-top-rope madness that is the Royal Rumble.

And while the 2024 versions of that stip certainly had their moments - Jordynne Grace's explosive cameo and the Punk/Rhodes finale were both exceptional - they also highlighted a secret problem: 'Papa H' has some serious work to do in the women's division.

Outside of the names towards the top of the card like Bayley, Becky Lynch, and Bianca Belair, and those new talents who have properly been made to feel like next big things, such as Jade Cargill, the vast majority of the field were met with the excruciating sound of apathy when their bland themes blared through the speakers.

No one gave a damn about Katana Chance, Kayden Carter, Ivy Nile, Alba Fyre, and so many other talented performers in the 30-woman contest because Trips has largely spent the last year just dumping them into heatless tag contests and battle royals.

The fact 'The Game' had actually took the time to build a bunch of interesting storylines further down the card and away from the top titles on the men's side of things led to far less awkward arrivals in their match.

The company just haven't put the same amount of effort and thought into getting their women's mid-card over as they have the men's, and that surely needs to change before the 2025 Rumble comes around.
