12 Signs WWE Fans Should Never Get Their Own Way

8. The 'Brand Extension' Should Return

Another popular demand is that 'Brand Extension' be reintroduced. When the idea initially happened in 2002, it felt like something truly different. The then-WWF roster was massive, partly due to the incoming influx of WCW and ECW wrestlers who had joined the promotion. Splitting the roster made sense, because the theory was that division would allow more people to shine. Currently, the WWE roster isn't quite as deep. The company do still have a lot of talent on their books, but how many genuine headline stars are there in the promotion today? Indeed, the creative team seem frosty on the idea of pushing new names to the top as it is. Would things be guaranteed to change if Monday Night Raw and Thursday Night Smackdown were separate? Probably not. The idea of a new 'WWE Draft' may sound like a good idea on the surface, but there's not really enough top level players to make it worthwhile. With a full roster at their disposal, WWE struggle to make Smackdown essential viewing for most fans as it is. Split the amount of wrestlers eligible to appear in half, and that doesn't make their task any easier.
