12 Terrible Wrestling Returns That Should Have Been Great

4. Bret Hart - 2010

The Best there is, and the best there was, had one of the most mediocre returns there ever will be.

Hart left the WWF in November, 1997 after the Montreal Screwjob, and while he made nice with the company in 2005, he didn't make an appearance on Raw until 2010.

There was a lot of serious, real life heat between The Hitman and Shawn Michaels, who was still wrestling at the time. So there was a natural, built in angle between them with a lot of history to play off of. WWE instead thought that a hug between them was the way to go.

Now Hart couldn't wrestle, but he could have managed a new Hart Foundation into war against the aging, and incredibly lame D-Generation X.

Hart, though, was set to "wrestle" Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 26, which was basically a match consisting of Hart hitting his boss with a chair for what felt like an hour and a half.

Bret then had a short run as the General Manager of Raw, and the company kept booking him in matches, despite not being able to take a bump. He still shows up now and then to say hi, but doesn't really do much of consequence.

A huge angle 13 years in the making was effectively excellently executed in one night.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
