12 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Royal Rumble
3. CM Punk Quit The Day After Royal Rumble 2014
There were a number of things that happened during last year's Royal Rumble that got people talking like Batista getting booed after winning or Daniel Bryan not even being in the match, but it was CM Punk's role that generated the most buzz. Punk entered the Rumble match at #1 and lasted longer than anybody by staying in the ring for 49:11. He made it to the final four of the match with Batista, Roman Reigns and Sheamus. At the time, we figured he wasn't going to win because the rumor was that he would face Triple H at WrestleMania. Kane showed up at ringside even though he was already in the match and was eliminated. As the Director of Operations for Triple H and The Authority, he did a lot of evil things. In this case, Kane grabbed Punk while Punk was standing by the ropes and eliminated him from the match. Kane assaulted Punk outside the ring and gave him a Chokeslam through the Spanish Announce Table. The next day at Raw, Punk apparently had a meeting with Vince McMahon and Triple H. He wasn't happy about a lot of things, which he expressed to them. Apparently what they said to him didn't satisfy him, so he ended up walking out and hasn't been a part of anything WWE related for the last year. According to Punk when he was on Colt Cabana's podcast, Vince was in tears while hugging him and saying that they were like family. It has reached the point now where WWE wants to erase CM Punk's presence from history. They don't want people to know that a top guy quit on them. You won't see his Rumble performances featured in any videos or anything like that. A top guy like CM Punk quitting the day after the Rumble 2014 is definitely something WWE wants us to forget.
