12 Things You Didn't Know About Sting
5. He Was Once Voted The Greatest-Ever United States Champion... By WWE Fans!

On top of collecting a staggering six WCW World Heavyweight Championships, three WCW World Tag Team Championships, and numerous other accolades whilst being WCW's super popular surfer/crow, this 'Icon' also boasts a number of wonderful runs with that company's United States Championship strap, too.
Those strong reigns saw Sting battle it out against the likes of Cactus Jack, Steve Austin, Rick Rude, and Meng, and they clearly made an impression on not just WCW lovers, but WWE fans as well.
Jumping back to 2013, before Sting had even made his debut for the sports entertainment company, the legendary WCW man actually earned himself top spot in the US title category within an online WWE poll deciding who the greatest champion was for each belt.
Hulk Hogan predictably came away with the most votes for best WWE Champion. Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Championship. And then you had the odd winners of D-Generation X for greatest Tag Team Champions of all time.
But among all that was the revelation of WCW's top hero Sting sitting at the top of the United States Champion pile on a WWE site, picking up 53% of the votes and beating the likes of Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat and Sgt. Slaughter in the poll.
And it's hard to argue with their choice.
