12 Times Crowds Actually IMPROVED Wrestling Moments
8. The Game Returns - Raw January 7th 2002
"This is as loud as any sustained roar I have ever heard in Madison Square Garden." Commentator Jim Ross said that after a full minute of New York's ardent WWE fans screaming in full-throat to celebrate the return of one of WWE's most vital superstars. The crowd held that note for four more minutes.
Triple H had come back after eight months of rehab on a torn quadricep he received at the hands of Chris Jericho. Though he left action as a dastardly heel as part of the Two-Man Power-Trip, fans were just so happy to see a main event player come back that they couldn't help but scream with excitement. There was a feeling in those months leading up to his return that something was missing, and thankfully, in came Triple H to fill that void.
His return came during the transitional period between Attitude and Ruthless Aggression, leaving WWE in search of a new captain to drive them to the promised land. After seeing and hearing the response that Triple H got, he was obviously the first choice to bare the company's torch. From that day forward The Game would be one of WWE's pillars, the foundation upon which their success would be built.
Even fans who missed Triple H's initial injury immediately got the message that he was a big deal just by hearing the crowd that night.
