Members of the WWE Universe can be forgiven for not exactly remembering who Skull is, or even for failing to remember that the 22nd entrant of the 1998 Royal Rumble didn't make it to the ring. Skull was one of the four men who made up the Disciples of Apocalypse stable that took part in the best left forgotten gang wars of 1997, and he went on to find greater fame with fellow DOA member (and real life brother) 8-Ball. You may know them better as the Harris Twins, The Blu Brothers, or Creative Control.

Skull failed to make it to the ring during the 1998 Royal Rumble, after he was brutally attacked backstage by the dastardly Puerto Rican gang, Los Boricuas. Whilst this could be seen as just another act of violence in the never-ending gang wars, it transpired that Skull was victim to a case of mistaken identity. The Puerto Ricans thought they were attacking Stone Cold Steve Austin, despite Austin being a whole five inches shorter than Skull.

The 1998 Royal Rumble was a weird one, with Mick Foley appearing three times (as Cactus Jack, Mankind, and Dude Love), Headbanger Thrasher lasting almost 30 minutes without eliminating a single person, and The Nation of Domination fighting each other despite being the majority in the ring at one time.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
