12 Ups & 1 Down From Impact Wrestling (May 26)
Downs...
1. New Material Needed
As is typically the case in the last few weeks, there was nothing wrong with Michael Elgin's promo in the way he delivered it. 'Big Mike' is known to be one of the finest talkers in Impact today. The only issue is that he's repeating the same point week in and week out, that he's the rightful number one contender to Tessa Blanchard's World Championship seeing as their Rebellion match with Eddie Edwards couldn't go ahead.
Elgin stated that Trey, his semifinal opponent, would just become another name added to the list of top-tier talents he's defeated since coming to Impact last April. It's the same sort of thing he had to say before facing Sami Callihan, Eddie Edwards, Naomichi Marufuji, and basically everyone else he's ever faced in an Impact ring. The delivery of his promos may be there, but he desperately needs some new key points to make before things start getting rstale.
Now that he's since lost to The Rascalz member, which was a major surprise to say the least given his lack of success over the last few months, perhaps now's the time for Elgin to do just that.
