12 Ups & 1 Down From Impact Wrestling (May 26)

7. Unlikely Alliance Works Well

Chris Bey and Johnny Swinger is an alliance that, rather surprisingly, works quite well together. It's become a common tradition on this column to give a Down to anything involving 'The Swing Man' because it's usually impossible to find any sort of positivity within it. This, however, was the exact opposite.

Bey was in singles action against the returning Cousin Jake, with Swinger stationed at ringside. Of course, the in-ring work between these two speaks for itself, although we do have to give special mention to Bey countering a powerbomb into a Code Red which was a thing of beauty. Aside from that though, having the bumbling Swinger at ringside made for some alright moments. Nothing too spectacular, but enough to give Swinger some praise. That deserves an Up all by itself. Bey even debuted a new finisher to make things a little more special, a stiff kick to the temple known as the Final Finesse.

Willie Mack saved Cousin Jake from a post-match beatdown, adding more fuel to the fire that is Mack vs. Bey. All things considered, there are no complaints to be made about this. Maybe there's a reason for having Johnny Swinger in Impact after all.
