12 Ups & 13 Downs For WWE In 2019 (So Far)

2019 has largely been a solid year of WWE pay-per-views, with only Super Show-Down's horrors and Stomping Grounds' abject second half sticking out as anything close to failures.

Elimination Chamber and Money In The Bank - shows built around signature clusterf*ck matches - stand out amongst the finest offerings. This is largely on the strength of their titular matches. Sure, MITB had the superfluous Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles clash, but both pay-per-views succeeded largely because the gimmick bouts were so much fun.

At Elimination Chamber, Bayley and Sasha Banks became the inaugural Women's Tag Team Champions in a sharp, well-agented bout that saw each performer utilised perfectly (even Nia Jax and Tamina), culminating in a cathartic vitory. The men's Chamber, meanwhile, was one of 2019's most spectacular so far, with the stunning Kofi Kingston vs. Daniel Bryan closing stretch taking the burgeoning KofiMania movement to a new level.

Elsewhere, Money In The Bank's women's bout was an absolute hoot, and say what you will about the finish, but the action preceding Brock Lesnar's main event victory was everything you'd want from the ladder stipulation.
