12 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (13 Aug)

8. A Simple Setup

WWE established their next SmackDown Tag Team Championship feud in simple, effective fashion last night, beginning with the announcement that Xavier Woods and Big E would collide with The Revival later on.

It continued when Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson were interviewed by Kayla Braxton. They don't like The New Day because they "ruined" tag team wrestling by fannying around with pancakes, then promised to show why they'd never been defeated by the babyfaces. Later, Woods, E, and Kofi Kingston brought their characters out, mocking The Revival's assertions by claiming they'd ruined a few things - dinner, Christmas, an adult circumcision - but not tag wrestling. Later, Dash and Dawson pinned Woods in what became a trios main event.

This is refreshing in its directness. A seemingly random match when tag purists The Revival outlined the differences between them and The New Day, and we're now set to get our first proper feud between the two since spring 2017. Good.
