12 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Oct 2)

11. Glue Guys

AEW's commentary woes are over. Tony Schiavone was the solution.

The former WCW man was great last night. His reassuring, veteran presence was the glue holding the Jim Ross/Excalibur tandem together. Not that his cohorts haven't delivered good work so far, but Schiavone was so much more adept in his role than the absent Alex Marvez, and his voice was all over Dynamite, too, having knocked it out of the park on his first night as AEW's play-by-play guy.

Also, it's just great hearing Tony's voice back on mainstream wrestling television. He's awesome.

While we're praising AEW's new broadcasters, how about Chris Van Vliet? The YouTube interview demigod came off like a million dollars on national television. Smooth, slick, and charismatic, it was great to see his style and personality come off as well on the big screen as it does on smaller ones. Two thumbs up.
