12 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Full Gear

8. Rey Fenix Soars... Again

Fans who'd spent Full Gear waiting for adrenaline-pumping high spots must have been rubbing their hands together when SCU, the Lucha Brothers, and Private Party hit the ring. Said spots came, but not with the frequency or volume many would have expected. This bout was a lot slower than advertised, particularly in the opening stages, and while the action did come thick and fast towards the end, the net was a more measured bout than anyone could've predicted.

Though it took a while to come alive, the match was electric once Rey Fenix decided to remind the audience that he's one of the best wrestlers in the world. His creative rope work and effortless agility stood out over everything else here. His partner, Pentagon, was as brutal as ever, but Fenix was the star, and AEW wisely kept him and his brother out of the finish.

A great near-fall came on a 2.99-count kickout following a Marq Quen Shooting Star Press. SCU countered Private Party's Gin and Juice attempt soon after, proving they'd done their homework, with Frankie Kazarian hooking his legs to prevent the top-rope 'Rana, before him and Scorpio Sky hit the SCU Later for the 1-2-3.

Christopher Daniels returned in the aftermath, disguising himself as Penta to initiate a beatdown of the Lucha Brothers, vowing revenge for the duo putting him on the show a few weeks prior. This storyline continues.
