12 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Full Gear

9. "Cheerio, Dweeb!"

Kip Sabian has started coming out of his AEW shell in recent weeks and it continued with a backstage promo alongside Goldenboy, whom the English initially mistook for an intern, before deciding to play ball as the commentator asked what was behind Kip's recent change in attitude.

Sabian said that when he came into AEW, he planned to play it straight. He soon realised that he needed to carve his own path, leading to his alignment with The Hybrid 2, but when this didn't work out between the ropes, he went looking for someone who he has genuine chemistry with. In walked his real-life partner Penelope Ford. "Why be bad, when you can be Superbad?", she said, closing this neat, tidy little segment, and kickstarting an alliance that makes all the sense in the world.

"Cheerio, dweeb!" Kip said as he and Ford walked away from Goldenboy. A great line, and while it's hard to focus how far Sabian can go in this promotion, this is an exciting new direction for the former World of Sport star.
