12 Ups And 15 Downs For WWE In 2017 (2nd Opinion)

8. The Kevin And Sami Show

Kevin Owens started 2017 as the WWE Universal Champion heading into the Royal Rumble. He ended it in a tag team feuding with Shane McMahon.

So how is this a positive thing?

Quite simply, the Kevin and Sami Zayn show has kept KO and real-life best friend Zayn in the main event spotlight even while neither man is competing for a world title. For better or worse, Shane is one of the focal points of SmackDown, so being involved in an ongoing storyline with him means you get plenty of screentime and plenty of opportunities to showcase yourselves for fans.

Considering that Zayn was basically an afterthought for most of 2017, closing out the year how he did has provided him with a rosier outlook for 2018. And Owens has showed that he has the chops to be reinserted into the title picture at almost any time. This partnership is keeping both men in front of fans and hopefully will position them for the near future.
