12 Ups And 16 Downs For WWE In 2018

11. Mysterio Returns

Rey Mysterio The Miz
WWE

There are few pure babyfaces who consistently draw a huge reaction like Rey Mysterio. When healthy, he is a definite asset to the company.

So Mysterio’s return to WWE, which played out over the course of 2018, has to be rated as a positive for WWE. Rey last competed for WWE in April 2014, but he shockingly showed up at the coveted #27 spot in this year’s Royal Rumble, turning in an impressive performance and lasting until the final few competitors. He would also battle in the Greatest Royal Rumble three months later.

But it was at SmackDown 1000 in October when Mysterio would fully return to WWE, rejoining the SmackDown roster. While he hasn’t set the world on fire in his feud with Randy Orton, Rey is a positive veteran presence, and that counts for something.
