12 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE Clash Of Champions 2019

Heading into Sunday’s PPV, Kofi Kingston’s WWE Championship reign would be defined by this match.

The feud leading into Clash of Champions was punctuated by Randy Orton labeling Kofi “stupid” and a fluke and a failure. Had Kofi lost, it would confirm all of that and leave him in a bad way as a former champ.

Instead, Kingston won clean, countering an Orton punt with a Trouble in Paradise for the 3 count, finally giving Kofi a big win over a major star. It’s unlikely that Kingston’s reign is going to be remembered years later as a significant one, but at least it now won’t be remembered as a joke, with a heel belittling him and then proving his point by beating him.
