Hacksaw Jim Duggan was the last person to hold the WCW TV Title, but he was also the worst. In 1999, Scott Hall won the belt at Mayhem, when his opponent, Rick Steiner, was unable to compete. A week later Hall realized he didn't even want the gold. He didn't even bother selling it, and decided to throw it in the trash. Nearly three months later Jim Duggan (who was working as a janitor in the storyline) discovered it in a dumpster. This kind of sounds like a miracle. How did no one clear out that dumpster in all that time? Well, he decided to keep the belt and declare himself champion, because that's what a real champ does. Duggan then began to defend the gold on WCW Saturday Night in a series of completely forgettable matches. At this point, due to injuries, Duggan was barely able to bump, so his matches looked better suited for an indy show at your local gym than on national television. When Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff came back to power, they metaphorically threw the title in the trash once more and it was never seen again. Who knows? It could be laying in a dumpster somewhere near you.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
