12 Worst WWE Pay-Per-Views Without A World Title Match

MVP Kane Inferno Match Armageddon 2006

It's telling when a card is considered so poor on paper that a spontaneous four-team ladder match is added midway through the show, and even less ideal when that last minute contest results in an injury so horrific that the performer develops a painkiller addiction that briefly loses him his job.

That's the story of Armageddon 2006. An admittedly brilliant spotfest featuring The Hardy Boyz, MNM, Paul London, Brian Kendrick, William Regal and Dave Taylor tried in vain to save the rotten December pay-per-view, but the infamous smash to the face sustained by Joey Mercury ensures the contest will never be held in lofty esteem alongside the TLC matches of old.

Time is kind to the line-up, with an Inferno Match between MVP and Kane, the alliance of World and WWE Champions Batista and John Cena taking on King Booker and Finlay, and The Undertaker terminating his feud with Mr Kennedy in a 'Last Ride' match all sounding like enjoyable enough ways to spend time watching wrestling.

However, just two weeks earlier, the company had presented ECW December to Dismember. Fingers were burnt by one of WWE's most disastrous pay-per-views, and suddenly 'enjoyable enough' didn't look an acceptable standard. The disdain towards the product following that show lingered for weeks, and Armageddon 2006 was cruelly caught in the crossfire.
