12 Worst WWE Storylines Of The PG Era
3. Here Comes The Money, There Goes The Logic
Once it became clear that the roster was so decimated by injuries that Undertaker didn't have an obvious WrestleMania opponent, speculation was rife as to who it may be.
Has John Cena downed some more wolverine-juice and defied medical science to be ready to compete? Will Goldberg come back to battle the Deadman? Braun Strowman is taller than Taker, he'll do right?
As it transpired, Shane McMahon shocked the world by returning to WWE in February and immediately stood up to his father. He told Vince that he had something hanging over him, so Vince responded to this blackmail by putting Shane in a match at WrestleMania against Undertaker inside Hell in a Cell, with control of Monday Night RAW on the line.
Forgetting how little sense it made for Undertaker to blindly do the bidding of Vince McMahon in the first place, the match itself was equal parts boring and thrilling, seemingly existing only for Shane to jump off something high. Shane lost, and as such Vince stayed in control of RAW.
Except he decided to put Shane in control, and Shane-O Mac has been in charge ever since. The stipulation from the match at Mania has amounted to nothing, with WWE creative deciding that continuity is something fictional entertainment does not require.
The story was a train-wreck from start to finish, as damning an example of poor planning as WWE has provided in recent years.
