12 WWE Criticisms That Split The Wrestling Audience

7. Stop/Start Pushing Mentality

Vince McMahon's words on the Steve Austin WWE Network show angered a lot of people. Shifting blame from the creative team and himself, McMahon reasoned that those who fail to get over should look inwardly at their own performances. Vince singled out Cesaro, but the Swiss star isn't alone in being let down by the office that's supposed to back him. Over the years, Wade Barrett has done everything asked of him by officials to succeed. First appearing on the main roster as the leader of the Nexus, the Englishman has also played the 'Bad News' and 'King' Barrett characters since. Each and every single time he gains some momentum, the company have pulled the proverbial rug out from underneath him. This is inexcusable. Some fans agree with McMahon's assessment that wrestlers must do more to get themselves noticed. However, others subscribe to the viewpoint that WWE itself must show more faith in them. The stop/start booking strategy, whereby creative go cold on certain individuals quickly, does nothing for anybody. This creates an environment in which it's hard to gather steam.
