Hall of Fame induction: 2008

Ah, bet you forgot the order of things here. It’s true that Ric Flair has not wrestled a match in WWE since losing a retirement match against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24.

But that match came the day after Flair had been inducted into the Hall of Fame, which was billed as him being the first “active” wrestler inducted. The writing obviously was on the wall here, with Flair getting his moment in the sun and then having to go out the next day and wrestle for his career against one of the best of all time.

Sadly, Nature Boy went out and tarnished his legacy by competing in a series of matches in TNA in 2010-11, losing most of them. It also was seen by some as going back on his word that he would actually stay retired at the age of 59. But then again, when has a wrestler ever kept his/her word about something like that?

Hell, Flair is still insisting that he could still have one more match at 72! But there’s next to no chance that would ever happen in WWE.
