12 WWE Monsters Whose Muscles Were Bigger Than Their Skills
3. The Warlord
One can't help but wonder just what exactly was in the water in Minnesota that was delivering the wrestling world these musclebound freaks of nature left and right. Within the same brief time period the region birthed The Road Warriors, Barry Darsow, Scott Norton, Rick Rude, John Nord and Nikita Koloff. An intimidating group of killers if there ever was one. Another member of that same crew was Terry Szopinski (no relation to Soda Popinski), better known to fans as The Warlord. As one half of The Powers of Pain tag team alongside another monster in The Barbarian, Warlord was an immense, face-painted powerhouse with one of the most impressive physiques wrestling had ever seen. The duo were natural rivals to The Road Warriors and Demolition, having feuds with both teams in WWE and the NWA. An attempt at a solo run in WWE failed, and his last match for the company was a loss to the loneliest man in the business, Virgil. Warlord has made a bit of a nostalgia run comeback, working some independent shows and appearing for Chikara. His legacy can still be felt in today's wrestling, as Batista fondly cites The Warlord as his all-time favorite and a big influence.
