12 WWE PPVs With Two Great World Title Matches
9. WrestleMania 23 (Batista Vs. The Undertaker; John Cena Vs. Shawn Michaels)
Almost two years (and a number of title reigns) later, Batista and John Cena would headline WrestleMania 23 as the defending World Champions of their respective brands.
On that night, they defended their belts against the last two participants in that year's Royal Rumble Match - RAW's Shawn Michaels and SmackDown's The Undertaker.
Batista and 'Taker wrestled a hard-hitting and exciting contest for the World Heavyweight Championship, which saw 'The Deadman' ultimately connect with a Tombstone Piledriver and capture his first World Championship in almost five years.
In the main-event, John Cena and Shawn Michaels wrestled a fantastic match for the WWE Championship, which saw HBK submit to Cena's STFU - much like Triple H had done the prior year.
Cena, who had been in some high quality PPV title matches over the last number of months with Edge and Umaga, proved he could hang in the ring with the legendary Shawn Michaels and that he was only going to get better with age and experience.
Over on SmackDown, Undertaker and Batista would have many other classic bouts over the World Heavyweight Championship.
