12 WWE PPVs With TWO Unsatisfactory World Title Matches
4. WrestleMania 29 (The Rock Vs. John Cena; Alberto Del Rio Vs. Jack Swagger)
In life, knowing when to leave things well enough alone is a huge value.
One year after the legendary 'once in a lifetime' encounter between John Cena and The Rock at WrestleMania XXVIII, which did record-breaking business, the company decided to do the very same match, this time with the WWE Championship up for grabs.
It obviously wasn't even close to being as special as the original match, with the two wrestling a video game-like match (with multiple finishers activated) in front of a relatively quiet crowd until Cena got his win back in the end. To make matters worse, poor Rocky would get injured during this match.
The World Heavyweight Championship bout saw Alberto Del Rio defend against Jack Swagger. This will forever be one of the most 'eh' World Title matches in WrestleMania history, just having midcard written all over it.
Del Rio won the match via submission and held the strap for a one more day, losing to Dolph Ziggler on RAW in one of the most memorable Money in the Bank cash-ins ever. It comes as no surprise that everybody remembers that instead of WrestleMania when this was the title match they presented at 'The Grandest Stage Of Them All'.
