After a year and a half in developmental, Tyler Reks debuted on ECW television in June 2009. However, his tenure was shortlived as a knee injury slowed him down and go-nowhere feuds with Zack Ryder and Paul Burchill did him no favors. He returned to Smackdown in Fall 2010 (after a long period of dark matches) where his most significant contribution was randomly beating Kaval to represent Team Smackdown at the Bragging Rights PPV. Reks became a mainstay of WWE Superstars feuding with Chris Masters before disappearing into NXT oblivion. When he resurfaced in December 2011, Reks teamed with fellow aimless midcarder Curt Hawkins as they jobbed for established Tag Teams such as Air Boom, Gabriel & Tyson Kidd, and the Usos. Frustrated with his position in the company and being separated from his family, Reks qui the WWE in August 2011.
