By his own admission, Sean Waltman was dismayed when he learned in 1993 that his WWF name would be The 1-2-3 Kid.

For the fresh-faced youngster, that was a potential death knell on his career, but the Kid overcame the odds to become a legitimately popular midcard act.

In 1996, he departed the WWF and made his way to WCW. Joining his buddies Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, Waltman became Syxx. The character was much more dynamic than The 1-2-3 Kid had ever been, especially from the standpoint of handing the wrestler a more street-savvy guise.

Returning to the WWF in 1998, Waltman brought his new attitude with him. Reborn as X-Pac, he instantly hooked up with Triple H and The New Age Outlaws to form a new version of D-Generation X. Waltman was able to be himself with his new role, and it served him well.

X-Pac quickly became one of the most popular names on the entire roster. Dripping with coolness, he was now a million miles away from the dorky kid Bobby Heenan used to crack jokes about on commentary.
