5. Hulk Hogan

Even as early as 1993, the red and yellow hero known as Hulk Hogan came across as stale in the WWF. Fans demanded something new, but Hogan was still performing the same old shtick he had for years.

A match against Yokozuna at the first King Of The Ring pay-per-view in June would mark Hogan's last WWF appearance for almost 9 years.

During the intermittent period, he added freshness to his act by turning heel and forming the New World Order in WCW. By the time 2002 rolled around, that company was out of business and WWF enthusiasts were more than ready to embrace Hogan once again.

Returning alongside original nWo members Kevin Nash and Scott Hall at the No Way Out pay-per-view in February, Hulk looked like a million bucks.

Dressed in nifty black and looking awesome, Hollywood Hogan was way cooler than the more traditional variation of Hulk that longtime WWF supporters had last seen in Titan rings.

Ironically, he'd soon turn babyface and revert to the red and yellow, but that first nWo-styled impression hit the mark.
