4. Raising The Bar

Triple H Shane McMahon
WWE

The words 'Superkick Party' were uttered in a WWE match for perhaps the first time as The Usos lowered the boom on The Bar after yet another breathless exchange. Ignoring a potential cease and desist document that may have to travel in the opposite direction, it was one of the only ever allusions to a dynamic Young Bucks match happening in a McMahon ring. With respect to Matt and Nick Jackson, this was even better.

In the opener, The Shield and The New Day were perhaps missing the opponents they'd had their finest moments of the year with as they struggled slightly to lift the match into legendary territory. Keen to prove they were more than the spare parts, Jimmy, Jey, Sheamus and Cesaro outperformed their doubles rivals in a blinding battle that wouldn't be remiss if revisited for WrestleMania.

When Sheamus and Cesaro ended The New Day's record-breaking tag team title run last December, they did so with a breathtaking false tag finish that fooled fans and foes alike. This conclusion may have been even better. Jimmy simultaneously scoring with a mid-air tag and a plancha to 'The Swiss Superman' to unlock Jey for the match-winning splash was the type of beautiful spot construction virtually non-existent on the weekly show. As a supercard shut-down, it'll deservedly live longer in the memory.
