13 Classic Matches That Should Have Happened At WrestleMania

3. The Rock vs. Shawn Michaels €“ WrestleMania 19 Or 20

The dream match that will never happen could have taken place not once, but TWICE had everyone simply been nice to each other. The greatest in-ring performer in WWE history should have shared the ring with the greatest Superstar in WWE history at WrestleMania just once. After a five-year hiatus from WrestleMania, Shawn Michaels squared off against Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 19 in an unbelievable match toward the beginning of a seven-year run that was as Hall of Fame-worthy as the first half of HBK€™s career. That same night, The Rock put €œStone Cold€ Steve Austin out to pasture in the epic conclusion to their memorable WrestleMania trilogy. Would fans have traded their matches that night to see a returning Shawn Michaels and super-mega-heel Rock go head-to-head? The following year at WrestleMania 20, Shawn found himself involved in a Triple Threat Match for the World Heavyweight Championship against Triple H and Chris Benoit while The Rock reunited with Mick Foley as The Rock €˜N Sock Connection to take on Evolution (Ric Flair, Batista, and Randy Orton) in a handicap match. It was The Rock€™s last match in a WWE ring for almost eight years. Would fans have traded their matches that night to see a top-form Shawn Michaels and "about to leave for a long time" Rock go head-to-head at Madison Square Garden? Unfortunately for the fans that would make these trades, The Showstopper was pretty brutal to The Great One in the locker room when The Rock was still a youngster and Shawn was in the main event. That alone left a bitter taste in The People€™s Mouth and fans were deprived of what could have been an incredible show. Today they seem pretty friendly, but it would have been great if it had been sooner.
