13 Classic Matches That Should Have Happened At WrestleMania

1. Hulk Hogan vs. €œThe Nature Boy€ Ric Flair €“ WWF Championship €“ WrestleMania 8

This one is probably the most frustrating because it was actually announced at a press conference. When Ric Flair jumped from WCW to the WWF in 1991, the dream of seeing him square off against Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania was becoming a reality. Hogan and Flair had been arguably the two biggest stars in all of wrestling throughout the 1980€™s, carrying rival promotions on their shoulders. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfQPKSxsBuc In a shocker, Flair brought the NWA World Heavyweight Championship with him to the WWF, calling himself the "Real World's Champion." After some shenanigans involving The Undertaker, a steel chair, and ashes from the urn, the WWF Championship was vacated and decided at the 1992 Royal Rumble. Flair emerged victorious to unify the NWA and WWF Championships. When Jack Tunney named Hulk Hogan the number one contender, WrestleMania 8 looked to the biggest €˜Mania yet. Then something weird happened: Flair focused on €œMacho Man€ Randy Savage while Hogan was thrust into a feud with Sid Justice. But why? Hogan and Flair had been wrestling on house shows across the country with Flair pinning Hogan after an illegal shot with brass knuckles. The idea was for Hogan to beat Flair at WrestleMania and go on another lengthy run to rekindle HulkaMania. Instead, Hogan was burned out and wanting to spend time with his kids. His plans for retirement derailed the main event of WrestleMania 8. Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan would face each other on television two years later, but that was for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at Bash at the Beach. It just wasn€™t the same.
