What Was It: In preparation for his Cruiserweight Title decider against Cedric Alexander, 205's Mustafa Ali mimicked a much deadlier tourney: Mortal Kombat. In a perfect world, WWE might've shown clips of him training as Sub Zero against jobbers dressed as Shang Tsung, Baraka and others.
Why It Was Cool: For anyone old enough to remember a time when Kombat was the more violent cousin of Street Fighter, this was a real punch-the-air and 'f*ck yeah' moment, and the neon lighting in his face mask was an expert touch. Forget WCW's Glacier, 'cause Mustafa Ali is the king of Kombat cosplay in pro wrestling from now on.
His outfit was so good that it totally blew Alexander's Black Panther costume out of the water. Poor Cedric didn't stand a chance as soon as Ali channeled the spirit of the martial artist who would go on to become Noob Saibot (a regrettable name given internet culture to come).
