7. Making It To The AWA

Despite the company blowing him off after his response to their tryout inquiry, the planets aligned for Page once again and Paul Heyman departed the AWA, leaving them in need of another heel manager. A few weeks later DDP got a call from Greg Gagne, who told him he'd have to fly himself in for the tryout - although they'd spring for accommodations - and told him to bring all his crazy clothes. DDP said those were the same outfits he was wearing in Fort Meyers when he was running his clubs. In addition to the loud outfits, Gagne also instructed him to bring a couple of his "hot-looking girls", so Page called a lady he was seeing at the time and had her accompany him to Vegas for his big break, a town Austin says DDP was made for.
