13 Things We Learned From Mick Foley On Stone Cold's WWE Network Podcast

4. Winning Over Vince

Austin confirms that his good friend Jim Ross lobbied for Foley to be signed to the company and said that Vince saw nothing in him and wasn't a fan of his work. He then mentions some of Mick's accolades and says obviously he got past that and wants to know how he overcame that obstacle to make Vince a fan.

Mick replies that you can never understate the importance of having The Undertaker in your corner, adding that 20 years ago on Raw he debuted and attacked The Undertaker, and at that point his entire life changed. He says that Taker was tired of being matched up with big lugs and was looking forward to doing some "mental dueling" and took a chance with Mick.

He says that he and Steve both were fueled by their underdog status, both in their careers and in the Monday Night War, and says that other wrestlers making more money and getting a bigger push than he was helped drive him to achieve the heights he did.
