13 Things We Learned From Seth Rollins On Talk Is Jericho
4. Losing The Curb Stomp
Jericho inquires as to the reason Seth had to stop using the Curb Stomp finisher and transition into the Pedigree. The rumor had always been that WWE deemed it too violent for a PG show.
Rollins says that right after he won the title at WrestleMania 31, the company was sending footage of the event to The Today Show for his interview the following day, and a lot of the shots were of him doing the move. Aside from having a fairly violent name and connotation, Vince thought the maneuver was easily done by young children.
The Chairman didn't want "any bullets in the gun" regarding his top guy that people could use against them and he thought it was the right move to get rid of the finisher altogether.
Seth says he fought it tooth and nail because he loved the Curb Stomp and it was super easy and safe, with lots of possibilities of cool counters, but Vince said he could see Shane doing it to Stephanie when they were little, so there was no winning the argument.
