13 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (Mar 18)

6. Advantage Inner Circle

It's advantage Inner Circle in next week's Blood and Guts match, as Chris Jericho's boys took the victory over The Elite in last night's six-man tag.

Jericho played a wonderfully entertaining role on commentary after Sammy Guevara had sung him to the ring. He filled in the gaps as an old-school six-man played out before him, with prolonged, grinding heat segments broken by spirited babyface comebacks. Cody, Matt Jackson, and Hangman Page held it together for the most part. There were few signs of their recent friction as they worked through the bout, despite being under the cosh for most of it, as Santana, Ortiz, and Jake Hager's bully-boy style paid dividends throughout.

The Elite's cohesion was put to the ultimate test late on. It failed. Page and Matt Jackson tried an Indietaker in Nick's absence, though Hager yanked 'Handwash' (thanks, whoever makes those lower thirds) down before he could spring inside, leaving Matt isolated. Santana then reversed the hold into a pin attempt and the 1-2-3.

Nothing fancy here: just good, solid, pro-rasslin'. Work like this is a joy to watch at times.
