13 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (Mar 18)

Ups...

13. Making Lemonade

When handed a big pile of rotten, maggot-ridden lemons by the ongoing global crisis, All Elite Wrestling returned with a delicious can of ice-cold San Pellegrino.

The promotion did everything they could to try and make this thing work. Dynamite's set was reconfigured to ensure a kinetic background in the absence of human bodies, with the lights, lasers, and big screen keeping things visually stimulating. Surrounding the ring with wrestlers was an equally wise move. Everyone from Sonny Kiss to Jake Roberts was there, and MJF and Shawn Spears killed it their two-hour gambling and drinking session. Rather than detracting from the experience, the ambient noise and constant chitter-chatter added to the show, ensuring Dynamite didn't play out to cold, dead silence.

There's no substitute for a hot, engaged crowd. This, however, was the best possible alternative.
