9. Elgin Meets His Match
Infatuated by his loss to Trey in the tournament semifinals last week, Michael Elgin attempted to hold the show hostage until he was declared the World Champion, which 'Big Mike' firmly believes he has been for over a year. Granted, it didn't entirely make sense why he waited until just before the main event to do so, but nonetheless Elgin had a plan.
A minor distraction from Sami Callihan's ICU screens popping up was met by Ken Shamrock sending Elgin packing from the ring after a brief back and forth between the duo. 'The World's Most Dangerous Man' hasn't forgotten about Elgin costing him his spot in the tournament field, while Callihan wants retribution for being eliminated during the quarterfinals. A three way match has since been scheduled to kickstart next Tuesday's episode, which will no doubt be a delight.
You don't often get three way rivalries in wrestling, or any sort of multi-man rivalries for that matter. It's traditionally one vs. one, two vs. two, three vs. three, et al, so this is a nice change. Elgin, Shamrock, and Callihan will work well together no matter the scenario, as we've seen from the singles matches had between the competitors. It screams main event, which makes it interesting that it's set to begin the episode.
