13 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown On FOX (Oct 4)

1. See Ya, Shane

It's hard to invest too much into WWE's "loser leaves town" stipulations. People get "fired" from the company only to return days later all the time, which makes you really feel stupid when you take these things at face value, so perhaps this entry is a set-up for a fall.

Screw it, though. Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens was an awesome plunder match with absolutely the right result.

'The Best In The World' is at his most compelling in scraps like this, where he can be a crash test dummy for 10-15 minutes without trying to present himself as a serious, credible wrestler. He played his role well, as he has done throughout this feud, eating major bumps while throwing his own body around the ring with trademark recklessness, showing that when the situation calls for it, the former SmackDown Commissioner will do business.

Owens ended the bout after bouncing Shane's body off a ladder in the corner, then scaling the steps to score the legal papers. McMahon is gone, apparently. He's done. Here's hoping that this isn't the usual ruse and that those reports that FOX wanted less involvement from non-wrestling figures were accurate.

The best part of all of this is that KO can finally move on. Let's hope a brighter future awaits him regardless of where he lands in the upcoming daft.
