13 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (July 23)
4. Wyatt Vs. Balor, Redux
Remember the previous Bray Wyatt vs. Finn Balor feud? That monstrosity had already veered into WrestleCrap territory before the promised Pumpkin Demon vs. Sister Abigail clash had to be scrapped when 'The Eater Of Worlds' fell ill, and has already been lapped by this short, snappy revival, with 'The Extraordinary Man' calling 'The Fiend' out on last night's SmackDown.
While Finn was a lot a loss when it came to understanding Wyatt's actions, he said he wanted him at SummerSlam. Cue: Bray appearing on the screen. Decked out in full Firefly Fun House garb, he called Balor "brave and inspiring," but said that while him and his gang of puppets admire him, 'The Fiend' is no fan. He then accepted the challenge on his masked alter ego's behalf and we closed with the usual array of wacky screen effects, leading to 'The Fiend' growling "let me in."
This ruled. The effectiveness with which Wyatt and WWE have presented Wyatt and his 'Fiend' cannot be understated, and the SummerSlam bout should serve as an effective way to put Bray over will sending Balor off on this rumoured two-month hiatus.
