13 Ups & 4 Downs For Impact Wrestling In 2019
9. Homecoming
Homecoming was Impact's first pay-per-view of the year, and boy, did it deliver on so many levels.
Firstly, the choice of venue was a nice little touch, with the company returning to the Asylum in Nashville, which could realistically be described as the original Impact Zone before the official one in Orlando. Secondly, there was such a range of different matches that made it an enjoyable watch. The opening Ultimate X Match and the tag titles match between The Lucha Bros and LAX were both fast-paced, action-packed bouts, while the Falls Count Anywhere Match between Eddie Edwards and Moose provided fans with a decent hardcore scrap. Even the way the show ended, with Killer Kross powerbombing Taya Valkyrie off the stage, was great as it established him as the next big threat to Johnny Impact's World Championship, even if nothing much ever came of it in the end.
It's safe to say this show got a little lost in the shuffle in a way, seeing as it had to follow New Japan's Wrestle Kingdom 13 show taking place two days prior. As it usually does, the 4 January extravaganza kicked the year off with banger after banger after banger. Thus, Homecoming fell in a difficult spot. It still delivered a quality night of action though, as all the pay-per-views from Impact typically tend to do.
