13 Ups & 4 Downs For Impact Wrestling In 2019

One or two matches aside, Rebellion was a perfect pay-per-view. That may be a relatively bold statement to make right off the bat, but take a look at what actually happened on this show.

Brian Cage finally won the World Championship from Johnny Impact, and even though he suffered a back injury off a Spanish fly, it was still a monumental occasion for 'The Machine', with the debuting Michael Elgin confronting him post-match. Elsewhere, there was the truly out of this world Full Metal Mayhem Match between The Lucha Bros and LAX that featured the aforementioned Spanish fly off a ladder, Tessa Blanchard and Gail Kim had a great match that saw the inaugural Knockouts Champion come out of retirement after more than a year, and Rich Swann and Sami Callihan had one of the best hardcore-themed matches of 2019 with their X Division Championship oVe Rules Match.

That's one hell of a stacked show, but that's without even mentioning the thrilling previously-unannounced six way X division bout, during which Jake Crist caught a man mid-air with a Crist Cutter from the apron. Seriously, the timing on that was impeccable. It was evident that Rebellion meant a lot to everyone involved, as every single performer on the show put in 110%.

While not the best pay-per-view for Impact last year, Rebellion remains one of their best ever.
