13 Ups & 4 Downs For Impact Wrestling In 2019

1. History Maker

Tessa Blanchard
Impact Wrestling

Tessa Blanchard is one of the world's greatest professional wrestlers right now, period. The main reason for that is due to her work in Impact Wrestling, especially in 2019.

She started the year as the Knockouts Champion, wrestled Impact Hall of Famer Gail Kim in Gail's first match since February 2018, she was part of the first Intergender Match to main event the pay-per-view of a major wrestling organisation, she became the first woman to challenge for the X Division Championship, and now she'll be challenging for the World Championship at Hard To Kill, which will make Tessa the first woman to challenge for the main championship of a major wrestling organisation. It's been one hell of a year for her, which is why she was recently awarded the 2019 Wrestler of the Year award, again making her the first female to do such a thing.

Perhaps the greatest thing about the whole thing is that it doesn't feel forced. Tessa did a lot in 2019, but because it was something so refreshing, it didn't really receive any negative backlash from the fans watching. Anyone who says intergender wrestling doesn't make sense simply needs to watch anything she's done with Sami Callihan thus far. Their match at Slammiversary was off the chain, with their upcoming Hard to Kill encounter likely being no different.

It may be a cheesy saying, but Tessa is a history maker when it comes to Impact Wrestling. She's been part of all of these 'first time ever' situations, with more set to come in 2020, and there's not a single person that can ever take that away from her. If you ever needed a reason to start watching Impact, either for the first time or for the first time in a while, then look no further than Tessa Blanchard.
