13 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Fyter Fest 2019

3. The Dark Order Underwhelm... Again

The Dark Order
AEW

The Best Friends of Chuckie T. and Trent Beretta were cutoff by Stu Grayson and Evil Uno - AKA the Dark Order - moments after their win over Private Party and SCU. The duo appeared in black and white on the video screen, claiming they had a "long list of deceivers we need to correct," and that they'd chosen Best Friends as their first.

Cue: the lights cutting, just like at Double Or Nothing, with the duo's army of masked goobers appearing at ringside.

Then, another cut. DON had conditioned us to expect Grayson and Uno at this point, but no: the goobs were gone when the lights returned.

This didn't come off well. While not having the Order destroy Best Friends was a nice twist on the already-established format, the crowd was as unenthused as they were for the Order's misplaced debut, and it's impossible to classify anything that fails to get over so spectacularly as anything other than a Down. Here's hoping AEW figure out a way to make this corny-looking gimmick work going forward.
