6. Rey Mysterio Wins The World Title - WrestleMania 22
Having someone the size (5'6" and 175 pounds, both of which are very generous) of Rey Mysterio win the World Title is a big enough upset, but there is a simple reason why it doesn't get a higher spot on this list... really, we all should have seen it coming. With the passing of Eddie Guerrero, it was clear that WWE was going to be pushing Rey Mysterio higher than ever. It made sense, whether or not you think it's despicable to capitalize on someone's death like this. Rey was like family to Eddie and the entire Guerrero clan, and in a wrestling sense, why not position Rey to be the top guy in the always-growing Latino viewing demographic with Eddie gone? http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x12esr4_wwe-wrestlemania-22-triple-threat-match-world-heavyweight-championship-randy-orton-vs-rey-mysterio-v_sport Even with all that said, Rey faced long odds at WrestleMania 22, being involved in a Triple Threat Match with the World Champion, Kurt Angle, and one of the company's top young stars, Randy Orton. The notoriously tough Chicago crowd wasn't in the mood for sentimental victories that night, as they began booing Rey more and more as the match went on, but Rey finally won, and he did what people had been telling him he couldn't do ever since he came to America to continue his career... be a World Champion. He had been dedicating his matches to the memory of Eddie, and the company made sure to mention that at every turn. It was a feel-good moment (unless you're one of the aforementioned people who hated the exploitation of a real-life death) for a very hard-working man, but if you would have asked people, one year prior, if they thought they would see Mysterio as a World Champion, they all would have said "no".
