Dastardly William Regal was hoisted by his own petard when his devious plan to hide brass knuckles in the turnbuckle pad backfired against Spike Dudley in 2002.

Regal duped the ref by first 'accidentally' dropping a pair of knuckle-dusters right before his eyes, before secreting a second pair in the corner. Except opponent Spike was cognisant; he raced down to ring whilst Regal's back was turned, grabbed the knucks, and smashed him one in the back of the head. The bell rang, the ref counted to three, and we had a new European champ.
