14 Things We Learned From Eric Bischoff On Legends With JBL (Part 2)
3. Attempting To Buy WCW In 2000
With the company bleeding money in 2000, Bischoff attempted to buy WCW from Turner Broadcasting. Bischoff didn't know he could find a buyer at the time, but bluffed Brad Segel and went about finding investors. They spent close to a year working out a deal when WCW pulled the TV part of the package so they pulled out. They wanted to sell the company but didn't want wrestling on their TV station anymore. Without TV, Bischoff felt as though there was no point. WWE of course ended up buying WCW (minus TV) for a little over $4.2 million in March 2001. Bischoff wasn't terribly sad about it, having mentally and emotionally divorced himself from the company long ago.
