14 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Dec 4)

7. Fenix Wows Vs. Trent

The Champaign, IL crowd felt like they were still coming down from the awesome opener when Rey Fenix and Trent hit the ring for their singles clash. They weren't not into it, but they were definitely quieter, particularly during the methodical opening stages as the Lucha Brother almost worked his way into an opportunistic early Muscle Buster.

Fortunately, Fenix is one of the most dazzling wrestlers in the world. It's hard not to be awed when he hits full flow and that was the case here, with Rey's phenomenal balance, athleticism, and creativity on display against Trent's more grounded style, providing a different dynamic to the opener.

Fenix's win sees him go 2-0 in singles action, though it's unlikely that he'll be able to build on this before everything resets in January.

A supplemental Down for what could be seen as 50/50 booking here. Fenix reversed the tide after Best Friends' win over Lucha Brothers and Trent's over Pentagon, though it's hard to go in on this too hard, as having the Luchas absorb these losses was puzzling in the first place.
