14 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Dec 4)

2. The Show-Off

There's plenty to unpack with Cody's in-ring promo. We'll cover the good side of it later on, but there was something off about how 'The American Nightmare' presented himself last night.

Cody's now going up against a cocky, affluent heel in MJF, so him coming across so cocky in highlighting his own affluence felt like the wrong move. He acknowledged this tongue-in-cheek, but regardless, the company's top babyface going out of his way to point out how much his watch, truck, and shoes are worth to him, before reeling out a case containing over $50,000, weren't exactly the kind of actions that make you root for a guy.

Yes, this showed what Cody was willing to put on the line to get a crack at his former protégé, but surely there was a better way to do it than this? This wasn't 'The Grandson of a Plumber,' but a show-off.
